Determinism
We call it a law of nature, then quietly admit we can't reproduce 'identical conditions' for a balloon, let alone an electron. Determinism stays mystical for the most embarrassing reason: it might be perfectly true and still completely useless, since the universe declines to hand over its initial conditions and the splat arrives on schedule regardless.
